You can increase the log level by having this line in your smb.conf:
log level = 3
or
log level = 10 (this is more output)

Yep, that's right. The windows account did not get created in Unix
therefore, you cannot add it to the domain. What you need to do, I think,
is create this line in your smb.conf:
add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -g machines -s /bin/false -d /dev/null
%u

I am so excited folks...I finally got Samba to authenticate Windows using
LDAP and successfully join my XP boxes to the domain. Man, after all the
frustration of debugging in Samba 3.0 beta1. I decided to try out
version 2.2.8a instead. Therefore, I grab the .tar.gz and recompiled it
