systems that I use are Debian Sarge 3.1r5 and Samba version is
3.0.14a-3s.

smb.conf global settings:

workgroup = *
server string = %h server (Samba %v)
dns proxy = no
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 1000
syslog = 0
all computers (workstations and servers) to linux.
If they are migrating all then I am not sure is samba the right choise.
2. If I have understood right samba 2.2.x doesn't support BDC's. But the 3.0
version will support BDC's.

. So could this be indicating
that the machines are actually communicating with the wrong server to change their
passwords..? Can this be corrected with security = server? (Will it relay the
password change to the server specified with password server = ...?)

My users have no problems changing their user account passwords from anywhere, so
there must be a difference in the way these two things work...?

need's
a boot some times and it reboots it self occassionaly. Some harware
borblem in
it =).
So can samba refess the connection automaticaly after a PDC has cone down
and up again? BTW there is no BDC's at the moment.

the other OSes complain also, if my domain SIDs were
wrong? But it's just the NT4. What does it do differently than W2k and
WXP...?

the first host's trust account, if the first
host was an NT4 in a subnet of either of the BDCs.
The NT4 workstations all have SP6 installed.
Anybody have any ideas or suggestions? Where should I start debugging?
