I have absolutely no problem with accessing my Samba 3 system from a client with
netbios disabled.
Anybody know what this might be?
Thanks,

PS - Actually, I'd love to install Samba 3 on these two problem
So, before I waste another couple of hours at this, is it possible to compile Samba
3.0.x on Tru64 at all?
If so, can you tell me what the ./configure switches are?
Thanks,
Nate

I don't think Samba 2 supported DNS resolution. IIRC

I would if the box was online. The box is not connected to the internet, but
it has access to shares on a box connected to the internet. I have tried
downloading the latest samba and just installing it, but mandrake will still
only use the ones it has.

Is there anyway to just take a copy of the unix system
passwd file and copy the username and password fields into
the smbpasswd file? I know you can get it to copy all the
usernames and places x's in the password fields, but I was
wondering if it could copy the password field too? I'm
can not locate this file in the
current distribution of Samba. Where/how can I obtain only this
file.
Thanks,
Nate Grissom

Is it possible to share a tape drive using Samba. I
have a tape drive that is attached to a Solaris box, that I would like to use to
backup my entire environment; Solaris and Windows. If this is possible, how
should I configure the smb.conf file.
Thanks

to do is
generate the rid and PrimaryGroupID entries. Does anyone know how these
are generated? I've thought of just looking at the existing entries and
adding one to the highest each time; would that be acceptable?
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!
