to pass the whole file across the
network from drive1 to drive2.
If I create folders ... say /master/folder1 and /master/folder2. these
folders are not seperate drives. Then movign files between them is
lightening fast as expected.
Hope someone can help.

in this area? Logging in directly is not an
option for our clients. I have looked at netatalk, samba, nfs and
webdav stuff.

We have clients where things must be very simple. Of course we can live
with the folder, but making it as clean as possible is a
priority...though not at the cost of stability. So given your warning,
I am not sure if it is worth it.
What is client polling?
Thanks again,

suggestion, but the printer and fax folder still appeared. Is it
possible that setting 'disable spoolss = no' works only with NT or 2000?
Also we are using Samba 3.x.x
Thanks again.

disable spoolss (G)
Enabling this parameter will disable SambaĆ¢s support
for the SPOOLSS
and dropping a file works fine. i.e. you can move on the file
level.
Dragging and dropping within a drive works fine.
Mounting the same share with another linux box, or a windows box does
NOT produce the same behavior. This is definitely a OS X thing.
Any ideas. have you heard of such a problem?
