i try to mount a samba share from a windowsclient
the entry in the smb.conf is:
[formax]
path = /home/DOMAIN/stefan1/Desktop
read only = yes
browseable = yes
valid users = DOMAIN:stefan1 DOMAIN:max
create mode = 0444
when i connect with DOMAIN:max the smbd log says:

ID, too or is this id ignored with samba?

i'm running suse8.2 and have the MIT kerberos implementation as well as
samba-3.0.0beta1 installed
kinit [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and
net ads join
works fine
running
smbclient //SERVER/stefans_share -k
asks me for password and don't uses kerberos authentication instantly
surprisingly i don't

i configured samba3.0.0beta1 with:
configure --with-winbind --with-pam-winbind --with-smbmount --with-ads --with-pam
--with-ldap
i did make without options and make install
"kinit [EMAIL PROTECTED]" did work
"net ads join" told

-what are the main advantages that i have when i connect my linux client to an active
directory? is it only to gain services from other computers without authenticating my
self every time?
