I´m terribly confused about one problem in our environment. We have one
NIS+SAMBA environment, running in E450 with Solaris 7. Apparently, after
one system patch application, the password change is not working. Please
look this:
1) In the server, with root account:

I upgraded my samba version 2.0.7 to 2.2.3. I am using the same smb.conf and
realized that when I try to open a access file (.mdb) I get a error message.
It´s because a folder name that is greater than 8 character. If I alter the
folder name to 8 character it´s works ok. Which parameter is
I have samba 2.2.3a. I create folder more than 8 chars without problems.
However when i try to open a .mdb file inside that folder it shows a erro
message that could not open the file. I think that´s is about 8 caracters
limit. What can I do to fix it ? Thanks!

Hi all,
on my smb.conf, contents the following lines:
admin users = root claudio roberto
security = server
when this users save or write files on shared folders, they saves with
root:wheels.
How do i force this users to save your own user:group and not root:wheels???

permissions (wrx__)
inside the file smb.conf, in the your home share, add the option
valid users = OWNER OF THE HOME DIRECTORY
writable = yes

I think that if you use different passwords to samba user root and *nix user root there
are not problem. The samba root is only to create trusted accounts. Is it right?

The Alpha 500au is running Multinet 5.1 services and it
works fine with Samba 2.2.8.
The Vaxstation is running Campaq TCP/IP 5.1, so that,
hint #5 is valid only for this machine.
