I recently confiured my smb.conf file with default settings.
It reads:
[global]
workgroup=BATESANDWHITE
server string=Alpha Server
When I go to the start the smbclient, I get the following error message when I attempt
to login. session startup failed:NT_Status_Logon_Failure.
Any steps I

Any reason why I can not login into swat as root. I can only login as myself and when
I do so I can not write to the smb.conf file.

I have samba installed and now wish to create or map a share to my unix box
I would like to create a share to the litigation drive on my alpha server. I can see
all the shares on the BATESANDWHITE/dc-clusterfs domain using the following command.
./smbclient -L dc-clusterfs -Upstanard
added
I have gone through the ./configure the make ...and the make install...could you
send me a link as to what to do next to get samba configured to my network?

I recently installed samba2.2.8a and I am missing the smb.conf file. I have already
checked in the default locations and did a find and neither one turned up the file.
What does this mean

I am installing the latest version of Samba on my DEC Alpha running HP Tru 64 and I
was told to run ./autogen.sh before running the ./configure script. When I do so, I
get the error message:
./autogen.sh: autoheader:not found
./autogen.sh: test:argument expected
I am seeking installation instructions for Samba 3.0 on Alpha.
