[Samba] Slow response when using Msoffice
Hi, Everytime I use MSoffice product such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint to open file in Samba share, it takes very long time (at least 1 min) to browse, but it has no problem on windows explorer, I guess it is waiting for some kind of time out as it has no usage on the user CPU power. But not all of the user got the same problem, and it seems most of the case are happened on winXP. Any idea? config = Samba 3.0.4 Redhat 8.0 Kernel 2.4.20-28 [global] workgroup = PBE server string = Central File Server security = DOMAIN log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log wins server = 192.168.1.9, 192.168.1.55 ldap ssl = no idmap uid = 1-2 idmap gid = 1-2 template homedir = /public/home/%U template shell = /bin/bash winbind cache time = 5 veto oplock files = |.xls|.XLS| Please help, thankyou very much. [Samba] slow connecting to mapped drive after restart smbd
Hi, I have a running samba3.3 as a file server in NT4 domain. After a several weeks without rebooting, I found alot of SMBD process exist and they occupied a high usage of CPU, so I restart SMB service then all the thing seems work nice again. However, after this restart, some of the user report that they are very difficult to connect to the mapped drive, they have to wait for a long time to connect. This case is not always happen, but occured sometime. I would like to ask, is that mean I should not restart the SMB service? or, how can I restarting it without problem? Please kindly advise, thankyou. Best Regards, Steven -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
[Samba] computer name instead of username?
Hi, Since the Failed to verify incoming ticket problem on Samba3.0.1, I rolled back to 3.0. All the authentication and connection jobs are done successfully for 3.0, and this time clients able to browse to the Samba. However, I keep ask for the username, password when I access to any of the shared folder. The log of client shows: [2004/01/06 17:44:50, 1] smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_spnego_kerberos(218) Username CLIENT$ is invalid on this system where CLIENT$ is the computer name of client computer. I wonder why it authenticate with computer name rather than user name. smb.conf [global] workgroup = CHAETO realm = CHAETO.COM server string = Test Linux File Server security = ADS auth methods = winbind password server = pdc client lanman auth = No client plaintext auth = No log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m min protocol = LANMAN1 local master = No wins server = 192.168.0.248 ldap ssl = no idmap uid = 1-2 idmap gid = 1-2 template homedir = /home/winnt/%D/%U template shell = /bin/bash winbind separator = + [public] comment = Public Stuff path = /public/shared valid users = '@CHAETO+Domain Users' write list = '@CHAETO+Domain Users' force group = ntgroup create mask = 0666 directory mask = 0777 Please help, thankyou Best Rgds., Steven -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
