You are actually running an unsupported version of HP CIFS Server
(Samba). You can upgrade to the current supported version for free from:

There were definitely winbind problems in the preview version

I'm using samba 3.0.4, compiled with Kerberos 1.3.1-7, in an W2k3 ADS
environment and Kerberos and the Winbind daemon are used for authentication.
While checking a winbindd.log file I saw the following PANIC internal error:

I attempt to access the Samba server via Windows networking (network

I figured out what the problem of the panic action is.
it in the codepages..
i had a users personal directory coppied directly from a samba 2.2.x
server
and now all the file names with eg. û,î,É ect.. gave an error.
samba 3 paniced when it sees files with \210 or \202.. (û,î,É)
so i renamed all

i got even more error's in my log files..
some about schannel processing error, or no route to host or get peer
name...
still everything looks to be working fine.. (got no complaints from
the users)
but these internal error's i get a fewtimes aday..

After years of worriless use of Samba, I've stumbled across a strange
error
when building up a new system based on an Alpha PWS-600au.
My distri is based on Gentoo. The Samba source is 2.2.8a.
After compiling, configuring and running, my server is visible and all
