Try dir /X in a dos box..
it will show you the long and short file names..
how manny char's of the original filenames are shown.. ??
coz' i got mangle prefix on 5, and it show's 5 original char's ..
but putting it on 6 doesn't make anny changes so..

Hmm had the same over here..
i got it kinda working for me with these smb.conf things..
mangle case = yes ( dunno why i use this one, but it's there)
mangling method = hash (gues hash2 should do the trick as well..)
mangle prefix = 6 (or 5 ??)
the 6/5 stands for the number of
