Hi guys,
for the record:
Canon "i-sensys" MF4140 multifunctional laserfax works at the end.
PC, Debian Lenny, Sane-Backports 1.1.0, driver pixma,
sane-fine-scanner:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon Inc.], product=0x26a3 [MF4100]) at
libusb:006:006
scanimage -L:
device `pixma:04A926A3_S
this backend is marked as unmaintained. so purchasing a more recent
machine might be your best bet. but first, i would try it on windows
and make sure it is not a hardware problem.

the scanning portion of this device is supported by current sane cvs.
you will need to upgrade sane to get support. I dont know if anyone
builds packages for your OS. if not, you will have to compile a cvs
checkout from source.

Thanks. The first log was probably sufficient, but the ensuing ones will
probably make good supporting data should it be needed.
I took a look and indeed it is similar to existing code. As a matter of fact,
I'm still deciding whether it's more similar to the MF4270 or the MP730. One

I have a plustek scanner. I have just given Windows XP the boot and
installed Ubuntu. I love it, but now my Plustec 7200 is not supported.
I found this info on the disk supplied.
