Did you check if device is working with for example the program
"cheese" works with UVC devices
For this program maybe you have to disable the v4l backend in
/etc/sane.d/dll.conf

Seems your webcam is supported by the pwc kernel module see

so it should work with most v4l frontends.
Voor using the v4l backend you can try xcam, the v4l backend will use the pwc
kernel module to get images.
The v4l backend supports only a few modes so you have to select the correct
ones to get a image.

when i do a init and read images with the MS driver
and then a reboot (Linux) and start my sq930x backend i don't get that
sort of errors but can do bulk reads with no problems.

SANE in the same configuration (conf 0, interface 0 and
altsetting ) a different endpoint is not possible yet.
It can be done by adding a a sanei_usb_read_bulk_ep routine
(at least thats how i called it) if needed.
For some example see this page and the sanei_usb.c and .h files.
I have not added these routines to SANE CVS because i used them for
testing but didn't needed them at this moment.
