Happy new year,

Am 26.11.19 um 12:40 schrieb thie...@ordissimo.com:

Your system is not clean. The only drivers available are proprietary.
Tested with a clean live usb system, adding only brscan3.

I was not able to find the problem in that system, but I was successful
on a new Ubuntu 18.04 installation with:
- sane-utils from ppa:rolfbensch/sane-git
- sudo echo 'brother3' >> /etc/sane.d/dll.conf (it's not "brscan3")
- run "Driver install tool" from
https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=de=de=dcp7030_all=128=English#SelectLanguageType-566_0_1
- tweaks from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/sane_Troubleshooting#Brother
- restart machine

I did not have to add group "scanner".

Thanks for your help and hints,

-Ulf

If it works not tested on a live usb.

Hi Thierry,

I now again had access to the computer of my friend.

sudo echo 'brother3' >> /etc/sane.d/dll.conf

Now I see, that this has already been done. I missed it first, because
'brother3' was at the end of the file and not sorted alphabetically.

So now I still have the question, where I can find the ip or the
nodename for the brsaneconfig3 command.
Where can I find it?

In the mean time I just tried this:

jannis@MS-7616:~$ sane-find-scanner

  # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make
sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

Add your user to the scanner group:
# sudo adduser scanner

jannis@MS-7616:~$ brsaneconfig3 -a name=DCP7030 model=DCP-7030
nodename=001:004
"DCP7030" is already registered.

What to try next?
How to unregister the probably wrong entry with brsaneconfig3?

I did not find this entry in dll.conf, should I add it manually? s

Can you give me a hint, how to find the right nodename or ip?

Hey great. How did you find the printer with the search function on the
Brother site, and how did you know, that its findable in french.
When I search for DCP-7030 on english or german site
, I get:
*   An unexpected error occurred.
We are now investigating the problem.
Please wait for a while. *

Is there a link with same content in english or german?
