After reading Mr. Toke's query on this word, I
have to state the following.
It can be the tritiya vibhakti instrumental)of
dakSiNa meaning by the right side.
According to Apte, it can also be an avyaya or
indeclinable meaning "on the right side of" to be
used with dvitiiyaa(accusative)or shashThii
(genetive).
Monier Williams does not give a word as dakSiNena.

What I meant to say was that dakSiNena can be an avyaya meaning 'southwards' or 'to
the south.' According to the context, it may be that the word is sometimes to be
construed as a regular instrumental. I am sorry if that was not clear.
When one faces east during a sacrifice, one's right is to the south. Hence dakSiNa
can also mean south. In astronomical texts, dakSiNa is regularly used to mean
southern, as in the following example (ZiSyadhIvRddhidatantra 4.34-35):
sUryAgrAyA iSTasaMyojitAyA varge trijyAvargato locanaghne |
tyakte mUlaM yat sa zaGkur vidiksthas tatrAkSAbhAsaGguNe sUryabhakte ||
labdham iSTam amunA sahitAgrA prAgvad evam asakRn narasiddhiH |
dakSiNe savitur uttaragole 'grajyayeSTaviyutAd vidhir eSaH ||
It is also in this context that I have seen dakSiNena as an avyaya. I am sorry that I
have not found an example yet, but I will keep looking.
Actually, Monier-Williams does give an entry on dakSiNena. The below section from the
entry of dakSiNa is pasted from the online dictionary at

As you can see, the avyaya form dakSiNena is listed in Monier-Williams. You just have
to go to the end of the entry dakSiNa to find it.
