They are looking for a mid-level Java Developer to support and add enhancements to their current laboratory information management system (LIMS) as they install a off-the-shelf product by Genologics. They are looking for a core java developer who will be comfortable working with a client-server (not web) project. The project is for 6-months and will give an individual healthcare data exposure and allow the person to directly impact cancer research at one of the top-five facilities in the country. Top 3 Skills 1) 3 or more years object-oriented java swing development experience (THIS IS CLIENT-SERVER JAVA NOT WEB) 2) Experience working on data-heavy java application projects. Experience developing business logic to add application functionalities within an application 3) Database/back-end experience with Oracle Swing is an older technology so the client is fine with having someone with core java experience recently and previous swing experience. The person must be comfortable working in a non-web aka client-server environment. Job Description This individual is being brought on to the Client Comprehensive Cancer center to support a 170,000 grant project that is approved through a grant. They are installing a new off-the-shelf lab product by genologics. This person will design an interface to integrate the old system into the new system. They will extend the homegrown system functionalities in order to integrate with genologics system. The application is a home-grown Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This system interacts directly with the lab equipment to run tests on people like when you get your blood drawn. Some of the added functionalities include a search function, a sorting function, a way to track how samples are processed across UNC facilities, and the ability to support plate. This person will spend 100% of their time working on adding these specific functionalities. There will be no other maintenance work because this person is specifically needed for this project. They are using Java Swing, so they are looking for an intermediate developer (2-4 years) who understands swing and can hit the ground running to impact this project. The business requirements and technical specs are already written, so this person will really come in, do the coding, and complete the project.
