NEWEST UPDATE from the Hiring Manager: “As we're reviewing these (and we'll
get the individual feedback to you later), we're noticing a really high
amount of failure to commit to source control often.



The instructions state to commit often so we can see how the candidate is
thinking. When we have kata's come back with only 1 - 5 commits total, I
think it may be a good idea for you to direct the candidate to flesh the
exercise out with more commits before passing it on to us. “



PAST COMMENT: “I just talked to our Technical Lead who does all of our
reviews for DevOps and he gave me some good suggestions/direction to
provide to you regarding your DevOps search.



-Doing a great job finding the Operations side of the position (Sys Admins)
but lacking the Developer side of it



-Even though they won't be Pillar FTE's they will be the Pillar brand and
need to be a cultural fit. They need to have the mindset and the emotional
intelligence and consulting skills that we all have at Pillar.



-We don't need someone with 10-15 years experience in Sys Admin, we would
rather take someone that has a few years of development experience and has
the mindset of going the infrastructure as code route.

Administration, and Application Support; individuals who know how to enable
rapid development, automated application promotion from development to
production, and operational support.

   - If you think DevOps is a Philosophy instead of a role, you may be
   interested in joining us.
   - If you are looking for an opportunity to enjoy a wide range of
   technologies, you may be interested in joining us.
   - If you object to an interview process that includes buzzword bingo and
   tech questions you can answer with a Google search, you may be interested
   in joining us.

*What does the tech stack look like?:*

   - Docker (Engine, Compose, Swarm, Registry)
   - Jenkins
   - Ruby (Serverspec anybody?)
   - OpenStack (Nova, Cinder, Swift, Keystone, etc.  Really the whole
   stack...)
   - Ubuntu 14
   - RHEL 7
   - Java 6/7/8

We're not looking for someone who knows all  of those technologies, we're
looking for people who know how to use the right technologies in the right
places and are passionate about expanding their knowledge about DevOps
philosophies.  Obviously knowing everything about our current technology
stack is a plus, but you'll still have to learn new things with us.
