This position requires technical expertise in the following areas: knowledge
in core IP network protocols, hand-on experience with routers and switches,
experience with network management and operation, network modeling, traffic
engineering, capacity planning and data analysis. While this is not a
development position, the candidate is expected to have *strong scripting
skills* for tool development and process automation. Due to the many
software systems and tools involved in the *capacity planning workflow*, the
candidate shall be familiar with Unix-like environment and able to perform
light-duty system administration work.
Successful candidates must have excellent oral and written communication
skills. The candidate must be a team player, with an ability to work well
under tight timelines, and self-motivated.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Knowledge with core Internet protocols: TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF and ISIS.
2. Knowledge with VoIP network architecture and protocols: SIP, RTP, MGCP
and H.248.
3. Hand-on experience on switches and routers. Certification from Cisco
and/or Juniper is a plus.
4. Familiarity with SONET and optical transport gears.
5. Knowledge and experience with SNMP protocol and tools.
6. Experience with network modeling tools such as WANDL, Cariden or OPNET.
7. Strong in mathematics, statistics and analytical skills.
8. Experience with IP (layer 3) capacity management and planning.
9. *Experience with transport (optical) capacity management and planning*.
10. Experience working with Unix-like environment and common Unix tools.
11. *Strong scripting skill; Perl preferred*.
12. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Excel macro development for data
manipulation, analysis and report generation.
13. Experience with NetCool and Granite Inventory is a plus.
14. Experience in network performance measurement and monitoring is a plus.
