Job Title: Business Objects Architect
Location: Columbia, SC
Duration: 12 Months

Interact with State Treasurer's Office (STO business users to
gather/develop functional and technical requirements and translate them
into proposed business intelligence applications and reporting solutions.
Coordinate with STO business users and IT personnel to design, develop and
maintain complex business intelligence reporting and analytical solutions
using various Business Object tools and techniques.
Create and present proto-types to business users as options, as well as
purpose alternative solutions to legacy reports using different
technologies and development techniques.
Create requirements document for approval by system owners and business
users to be used in the development of reports and dashboards.
Model, design, develop, test and implement approved solutions in accordance
with business reporting requirements.
Work closely with DBA's, BASIS team and project managers at SCEIS and STO
to conduct testing, transmit changes through the appropriate release
management processes to production to ensure minimal issues and optimal
performance.
Provide daily support of the existing Business Objects reports and
universes with a focus on performing root cause analysis and finding ways
to increase efficiencies, improve user satisfaction and reduce cost/time to
maintain.
Perform optimization reviews to consistently improve the universes, data
structures, and to improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and
data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value.
Create detailed documentation, including data dictionaries, during the
creation or modification of universes, reports and dashboards.
Provide extensive knowledge transfer sessions for IT and business users to
ensure business intelligence applications and reporting solutions can be
created, modified and maintained by STO at the end of this engagement.
Assist business users in downloading and using data from Business Warehouse
and Business Objects data to Crystal Reports, Dashboards, Excel, etc. for
analysis and dissemination to internal and external users.
Advises STO on data warehousing strategy and researches new data warehouse
applications to determine viability and adoption by STO.
Help STO management publish and implement best practices, standards and
guidelines.
Serve as subject matter expert assisting the State Treasurer and the STO
executive staff in defining and developing new treasury management, debt
management and investment management reports for communicating with the
State Legislature, legislative committees, credit organizations, auditors
and to improve internal management processes.
Work with the SC Division of Technology and the South Carolina Enterprise
Information System staff to take the dashboards developed for STO and
modify them for use by all state agencies and on a statewide basis.
Work with STO and other agencies to determine the best approach to publish
new dashboards to agency Web sites to promote transparency and access to
information by the general public.

TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY, THE CONSULTANT MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING
QUALIFICATIONS:
MUST HAVE EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF BUSINESS OBJECT ARCHITECTURE AND
COMPONENTS, AND THE DESIGN OF COMPLEX WEB INTELLIGENCE REPORTS AND
DASHBOARDS.
MUST HAVE A STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF BUSINESS OBJECTS ARCHITECTURE AND
INTEGRATION WITH SAP AND NON-SAP DATA SOURCES.
MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO TRANSLATE COMPLEX BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS INTO
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ULTIMATELY INTO PROJECT DELIVERABLES.
MUST DEMONSTRATE A STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF REPORTING AND ANALYTICS
PRINCIPLES, THEORIES, CONCEPTS AND TECHNIQUES INCLUDING CREATING

TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES, PREFERABLY IN SAP ENVIRONMENT; MINIMUM 5 YEARS'
EXPERIENCE IN DEVELOPING COMPLEX WEB INTELLIGENCE REPORTS, DASHBOARDS,
CRYSTAL REPORTS AND ADVANCED EXCEL REPORTS FROM MULTI-SOURCE BUSINESS
