Here is the job description: Position: Oracle DBA Location: Pittsburgh, PA Start Date: 10/6/2008 Duration: 6+ months *Bill Rate: $40/hour* **** Local candidates preferred **** **** In-person interview required **** Required Technical Knowledge: Oracle (9.2 ,10g, 11g), Production Support Engineer, AIX, Enterprise Mgr Objective/Accountabilities: Working under general direction of the Commercial Product Development leadership team, this candidate must be able to provide on-call database operational support with our Maintenance & Support team to serve our customers' 24x7 operating needs. The candidate must exhibit flexibility, deal well with change, and show great work ethic, as our Commercial Product Development team is in early stages of growth and organization building, having a customer-base largely consisting of entrepreneurial startup companies and/or technology innovators. · Years of Experience: 3 Years · Hours: Minimum 40 hours a week · The contract duration would be 6-months, with a "possibility" of temp-to-perm, but no guarantee. Experience working with an on-call team to support, maintain and develop technical solutions in a 24x7x365 setting. The individual must be able to articulate to management, problem definition, associated risks, known trade-offs, make recommendations on best-fit solutions, and take ownership of the problem resolution. Skills: Ø Oracle (9.2 ,10g, 11g) Ø UNIX(AIXs) Ø SQL Ø Oracle Client/OEM/SQL*Plus Ø PL/SQL Ø SQL2005 & SQL2008 (Enterprise Mgr) Ø DB Artisan Ø Citrix Ø Data Modeling Ø Backup/restore functions Ø Subversion Ø Windows Server 2003 & Windows Server 2008 Ø Database upgrade experience (i.e. Oracle 9i to 10 g) Ø Manage user accounts and access privileges Ø Create and optimize physical tables and associated configurations (e.g. partitions, segments) Ø Ability to create development, staging and production database instances, and migrate them from one environment to another, i.e., export/import, data dump, rman clones Ø Document database change procedures and communicate impact to stakeholders Ø Perform capacity planning, collaborating with Architects and System Administration Ø Implement and maintain disaster recovery procedures (e.g. failover) Excellent customer service, communication and teamwork skills are a must. Demonstrable resume of experience using pragmatic, disciplined approach to performing root-cause analysis, problem solving, and employing Production change control/configuration management are a must.
