This must include each system’s functionality, processes, interfaces, data flows, and technology. This information will be critical for any modernization efforts. We desire to have an Enterprise Architecture defined and documented for the organization. We have the beginnings of this, but needs additional staff and expertise to complete. This will cover all aspects from business to the technical components of the organization. Representations of the as-is must be factored in and more importantly the to-be architecture. As we move into modernization initiatives new technologies will become paramount to the organization’s success. The role of technical architect to provide expertise and best practices in these technologies will be critical in defining and implementing the to-be architectures. Fourth: provide systems architecture support in the areas of business rules, workflows, business processes, data modeling, and data warehousing for the new initiative(s).
