In the DODD environment the product specialist will work with a diverse yet integrated stack of primarily Microsoft products. The Product Specialist at DODD will work on a variety of tasks in support of DODD mission critical applications. These tasks will include working with the assigned DODD team leader as one of the primary support resource for issues that arise with any of DODD’s Internet based applications. In this role the incumbent will need to have knowledge of standard programming platforms and development tools such as VSTS 2010/2013, VB .NET/C# and SharePoint. The incumbent may also assist with TFS code administration server. This activity would involve development of code builds, assisting developers with code builds and providing guidance on branching, merging and shelving strategies implicit in TFS. The incumbent will also interact with the DODD infrastructure and security teams to troubleshoot application support and new development issues related to code deployments and implementations. The incumbent will also work on application development and serve as a technical lead for development staff as assigned. The incumbent will develop the following skills on the job including understanding of the DODD environments (Pre-prod and production) and will understand DODD AGILE practices and code migration procedures. In the development space the incumbent will work alongside other developers in a development environment with the following criteria: HTML, JQuery, Java Script, VB .Net .NET framework 3.5 and higher, MVC as well as traditional .NET, N-tier applications, SharePoint, TFS to include TFS administration and VSTS; In the security space some knowledge of ADFS, FIM, and other Microsoft security tools is helpful; some infrastructure background would be helpful as well. DODD uses an F5 load balancer as well. Ability to be conversant in session management and work with infrastructure staff in this space would be a plus The Product Specialist requires significant to expert experience and skills in the technologies listed above. The Product Specialist will usually also have significant experience in the operating environment (windows server))on which the development platform and associated applications are hosted. If the product is one that was internally developed, the supporting PS should also have most of the skills of a Programmer. The Product Specialist is responsible for collaborating with Technical Architecture Specialist, System Specialists, Programmers and vendors to ensure and enhance the use of the product and effect migration to new versions of a product.
