*Job Responsibilities:            *

*The MS SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) will largely be responsible
for providing operational database services to the organization. Primary
responsibilities would include owning, tracking and resolving database
related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving
incidents, reviewing service related items such as database backups,
maintenance jobs, replication, and monitoring on a daily basis to ensure
service related issues are identified and resolved. Respond to database
related alerts and escalations and working with infrastructure and
application teams to define strategic solutions to new and recurring
problems.*



*This MS SQL Server DBA role requires a service oriented mentality and high
sense of ownership. The DBA would be expected to continually look for areas
of improvement in projects, products and processes to insure efficiency,
consistency and accuracy. Self-direction and the ability to manage and
allocate your time over multiple simultaneous projects are keys for
success.*



*Essential Functions/Responsibilities*

*• Perform feasibility studies and estimates for the implementation of new
or revised database systems to solve business needs*

*• Install, migrate, upgrade and maintain multiple databases required for
development, testing, and production environments*

*• Create new database users, control and monitor roles and user access
privileges to the database maintaining system security*

*• Coordinate backup and recovery strategies with backup administrator*

*• Work with Architecture team to establish coding standards for stored
procedures, triggers, logical and physical schema design; approve complex
structural changes to the database*

*• Recommend database approaches and design to infrastructure and
application teams*

*• Understanding of execution plans and how to use them to optimize/improve
query costs, indexing*

*• Excellent technical troubleshooting and consultation with quality
assurance and development teams.*

*• Troubleshoot problems regarding the databases, applications and
development tools*

*• Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements*

*• Refresh development and test environment databases on a regular basis*



*Job Requirements*

*• 2+ years database analysis, programming or similar experience*

*• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA*



*Skills and Abilities:*

*• Hands-on DBA experience in SQL 2005, 2008, 2008R2*

*• Working knowledge of SSIS*

*• Base knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 operating system*

*• Oversee and implement backups*

*• Experience with backend databases supporting internet facing
multi-tiered applications*

*• Proven strong innovative and analytical ability with extensive
implementation skills*

*• Proven success in performance optimization for OLTP and OLAP
applications*

*• Ability to work collaboratively with development teams in a highly
dynamic environment*

*• Ability to work individually or as a member of a team to design,
development, implement and maintain relational databases*

*• Commitment to quality work and high attention to detail*

*• Possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills*

*• Experience running dbms in a physical and virtual environment*



*Minimum Education:*

*B.E. or B.S. Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer
Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field;
related work experience can be substituted for educational requirement*
