*Job details- Storage Engineer* *Location: New York City, NY* *Duration: 1 year contract* POSITION SUMMARY The Storage Engineer will be responsible for managing block, file storage and a fiber channel SAN (Storage Area Network) for the NYU Langone Medical Center. They will handle the provisioning & decommissioning of fiber attached hosts and storage space, as well as performing routine monitoring checks to ensure that they are operational and performing adequately. They will answer and respond to service requests as well as preparing change tickets. S/he will coordinate with the team to keep them up to date. S/he will implement changes and/or new features to support and secure the storage infrastructure based on direction and guidance from the Storage Engineering team. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Perform any required storage provisioning. Perform planned maintenance activities on an established cycle. Maintain accurate and up to date inventory details in the ticketing system. Perform planned upgrades in conjunction with the storage engineering team. Assist with monitoring the fabric and the arrays. Coordinate and review the capacity needs based on information from the monitoring tools and alert Storage Engineering to add resources. Proactively participate in storage support issues by identifying, researching, and applying solutions to a wide variety of technical issues. Work with 3rd Party vendors and internal customers, interfacing with management personnel, to accomplish requested technical tasks. Review and resolve helpdesk tickets. Participate in post mortem/RCA process for problems as appropriate. Respond to assigned Storage Engineering service requests and provide timely status updates on the progress of ongoing requests. Follow policies and procedures for change, problem, and incident management. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS Experience with EMC Isilon NAS arrays. Experience with EMC VMAX storage arrays. Experience with Brocade fiber channel SANs. A methodical and solid background in planning and completing of assigned tasks. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 3+ years’ experience with medium to large storage environments as Storage Administrator. Or 7+ years’ experience as a Senior Windows, UNIX or Backup Administrator with primary responsibility for storage. Experience within a healthcare environment is preferred.
