Location: Washington, DC Duration: 6+ months Rate :$50-57/hr DOE(max and BEST) The User Interface Developer is responsible for converting approved designs and functional requirements into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript-coded, fully developed features and products on the Web Editions platform. The primary focus of this role is on the successful coding, implementation, and deployment of new front-facing features and templates to the production platform, while working closely with IT programmers and the software engineering group to continually improve the Publications Website. *Education and Experience and Technical Requirements* Researches, recommends, and implements new technologies and enhancements for existing and future products, programs, and services on the* **Web Editions platform**. *Responsible for the integrity of the underlying code that drives the user experience on the* **Web Editions platform*.** College degree, or equivalent experience in computer sciences, *web design, JavaScript* or related field. 3+ years of related experience. Demonstrated experience in front-end development is required, specifically*: HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, Flash, and content management tools*. Experience with the Prototype JS Framework is desired. Experience working in *online media*required. Experience with *search engine* optimization is a plus. Experience in contributing to a team-oriented approach to problem solving and excellent written communication skills are a must. The ability to articulate technical ideas or problems to a nontechnical audience (and vice versa) is highly desired. *The GUI Developer reports to the Web Platform Product Manager.
