The candidate needs to be able to perform data reduction and analysis in order to identify malicious threats and be able to present findings graphically to system administrators, network engineers, and incident responders. *Required Skills:* · Knowledgeable on the volatility of data and order of incident response actions required for data preservation. · Can perform basic incident response procedures using various commercial and open source tools. · Knowledgeable with the Windows Registry. · Knowledgeable with the Windows NTFS and FAT file systems. · Knowledgeable with Windows Internals such as running processes and services, various Service types, Windows event logs, Security Identifiers, command line arguments, etc · Can conduct rapid static and dynamic malware analysis of malicious files. · Familiar with utilizing automated solutions for malware analysis. · Able to identify and extract file, registry, and network indicators and other Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) from analysis of known malicious files such as Portable Executables, PDFs, etc. · Familiar with common methods and locations of malware persistence. · Understands basic network principles and network communication protocols. · Able to interpret log files from various network devices to include firewall, proxy, and web servers. · Skilled with Regular Expressions. Can create regular expressions to search for evidence of malicious activity. *Desired Skills:* · Computer forensic certification such as EnCE, ACE, or equivalent. · Scripting or programming knowledge considered a plus. · Strong working knowledge of Linux commands.
