*Title: Database Analyst / Modeler with ER Data Modeling and ORACLE*
*Location: Greensboro, NC*
*Length: 6+ Months*

*KEY EXPERIENCE: *
1. BASIC PURPOSE. Give a brief statement of the overall principal
purpose or function of this position.
Support the development teams in analyzing system requirements to develop
logical and physical entity relationship models and deploy modeled objects.
Mentor other DBA team members when appropriate. Provide project team
support for query optimization.
2. NATURE and SCOPE/PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES. List the major duties,
activities, responsibilities and end results for which this position exists.
*Database Modeler*
o Should be an expert in ER data modeling
o Should be familiar or quickly learn Infosphere Data Architect
o Should be able to work with Architects in Data Modeling standards
definition
o Should be able to design tables balancing normalization and
performance.
o Should be able to evaluate SQL code for performance
o Should be able to identify need for Indices
o Should be able to ensure data quality through modeling.
o Should be able to participate in business projects and determine
logical model.
o Should be able to collaborate with developers in designing data
models
o Should be able to share on-call responsibilities.
o Should be experienced in XML models
o Should be familiar with XQuery, XPath
o Should have experience in XML Schema and DTD design
o Should be familiar in writing stored procedures in PL/SQL
o Should be familiar in writing triggers
o Design database objects (Logical and Physical) and processes in IDA
o Communicate effectively with Project Leaders and team members in
IT&S Department
o Mentoring and Cross Training other DBA team members
o Liaison between external resources and internal resources for
database projects.
o Create and implement database portions of project plans.
o Provide project estimates for DBA skills to project managers.
o CVS change management processes relating to IDA.
3. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, EXPERIENCE and MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED. State
the minimum formal education and years of work experience required to
satisfactorily perform the position’s duties. Include specific educational
requirements and list any positions, which may lead to this position.
· Relational Modeling Experience
· Experience with Infosphere Data Architect
· Experience with Oracle RAC Database preferred
· Experience with SQL/DDL Oracle environments.
· Experience with other Oracle Database objects
· Familiarity with Web Based Development Technologies and Web
Applications
· Must be willing to work on all platforms and databases in use at
United Guaranty
· Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
· Experience mentoring and cross training
· Time management, planning, and organization skills.
· Excellent oral, written communication skills.
