Duration :6 Month Contract*

Must Haves:
5+ years of Cognos Reports Studio experience (they use version 10.1 but 9.x
will work)
Strong understanding of SQL Queries (Stored Procedures not necessary, this
is a different team)
Excellent Written and Verbal Communication
Ability to translate technical data into business logic
Working knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts and structures
(understanding of different schemas, specifically Star Schemas, as well as
different dimensions of Data Warehousing.

Pluses:

Retail Industry Experience
Experience with Cognos 10.1

Role
This is for a division of a larger organization that sells prep materials
and provides classes for people taking the CPA. Long story short, they
reworked their Data Warehouse back in November of 2011 and did not take
into account the reports that would have to be developed/enhanced with the
new system. This person is responsible for the development of 20 complex
Cognos reports. They have a PM and BSA they will be working with and
receiving requirements from but eventually they would like this person to
interact on the business side and deal directly with the sales department.
All reports are sales and revenue based reports, hence the experience with
Retail/Sales organizations.

Role:
Our client is looking for a junior to mid-level Cognos developer/analyst to
produce reports and dashboards using Report Studio. This would include
cross-tab reports off an OLAP datasource, using macros and parameters,
applying drill-up/drill-down/drill-through functionality, blasting for
email distribution, multi-prompt pages, complex calculations, conditional
blocks and variables, templates, and master-detail reports.  You will also
create ad-hoc reports using Analysis Studio and Query Studio. More so, you
would provide user support for Report Studio, Analysis Studio, and Query
Studio and supply alternative methods of using the tool when users have
issues. If you were unsure, you would research solutions using the Cognos
user guides, IBM knowledgebase, or other internet forums. On a daily basis,
you would develop and maintain Framework Manager Models and packages based
on report requirements while creating and maintaining user security
groups/roles and object security in Cognos Connection.
