*Job Title: Senior Windows System Administrator/Lead*

*Location: **Herndon, VA*



*Job Description:*



This position is part of a team that ensures the proper operation of the IT
infrastructure that supports a mission critical Client's application.  It
has a blend of responsibilities across technologies including local and
wide area networks, high availability (clustering and data replication),
server farms using Unix/Linux/Windows operating systems, and storage area
networks.



Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT
systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to
these systems. Provides support to IT systems, including day-to-day
operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all client problems.
Provides second-level problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains
involved in the resolution process. Provides support for the escalation and
communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Must
have experience in one or more systems and architectures and associated
hardware: mainframe, mini, or client/server based.



Responsible for implementation, administration, monitoring, and management
of all Windows Servers within a development, testing, and production
environment. More specifically, the person will perform the following:



·         Complex assignments associated with managing and controlling
Windows 2008 operating systems.

·         Analyzes system faults, troubleshoots, and runs diagnostic tests
on Windows operating systems and hardware to detect problems.

·         Evaluates, reviews, documents, and installs software packages.

·         Recommends methods and techniques to be used for obtaining
solutions.

·         Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well
as repair to system/environment problems.

·         Administers and/or oversees systems/environment solutions for
multiple projects with varying schedules which are critical to the success
of programs.

·         Updates systems with latest patches.

·         Assists with desktop support and end-user support.

·         Leads small team.

·         Participates in strategic design considerations.

·         Leverage existing system capabilities in new ways through the
development and design of technology.

·         Establish and implement standards for computer operations.

·         Schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades.

·         Developing systematic changes and enhancements.



*Required Skills and Experience:*

·         Expert knowledge of Windows Domain, Active Directory, and GPO

·         Expert knowledge of Windows Networking including DNS, DHCP,
Routers, and Switches

·         Experience with various Windows-based hardware platforms (Dell,
IBM, HP)

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Must be a team player (team oriented) and willing to follow
directions, as well as take initiative.

·         Must be able to obtain a DHS Public Trust Suitability. US
citizenship is required



*Desired Skills and Experience:*

·         MCSE or MCP

·         WSUS, SCOM, SCCM

·         Microsoft SharePoint administration

·         Windows Scripting

·         Microsoft IIS administration

*Education:*

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution and 8 years of
relevant experience; the degree requirement may be substituted with an
additional 4 years of experience.
