In this role, design, develop and implement database systems to support the program goals of the client. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment. The database administrator is responsible for ensuring that the client's Digitals database systems meet the goals of high availability and performance put forth by the SLA’s described. To be qualified for this role, you should have a solid understanding of database administration techniques, and demonstrate a high level of technical aptitude. Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to collaborate on technical implementations, and communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of a highly available and high performing database system. Develop data management processes including backups and data refreshes. Design and manage scalable database systems using state of the art techniques such as replication and query proxying. Test and deploy staging and production database changes, support application testing activities, and refresh databases as needed. Troubleshoot performance issues in database systems including query evaluation, disk performance and i/o throughput. Troubleshoot and resolve database, application and development related problems. Proactively work to identify, communicate, and resolve performance issues. Effectively manage individual workload for multiple assignments or projects. Maintain expert level of knowledge in database design and administration. Share knowledge by effectively documenting work. Mentor junior database administrators in appropriate practices and the state of the art. Contribute to the project success in a team environment and support the business in achieving its goals and objectives. Provide weekend and off-hours production support as needed. REQUIRED SKILLS: 8+ years of experience developing and implementing highly available and performant database systems.
