Description (including, but not limited to):
Data analysis and database management
Maintenance, enhancement, designing of data dictionaries, physical and
logical database models, and performance tuning
(Logical) Administration of application objects within database;
maintenance of business requirements for database, database schema, data
maps, ERDs, application objects (i.e., tables, indexes, views, etc.);
performance of database application tuning; provision of business and data
requirements and data for capacity planning
(Physical) Environment-level administration; installation/patch/upgrade of
database software; management of HA, database-level security; maintenance
of database configuration files and data files; completion of database
reorganizations, environment tuning, refreshes, exports and imports, backup
and recovery; performance of capacity planning driven by technology and
resource usage trends

This individual will be accountable for the successful design, development,
and delivery of ETL, data cleansing and data integration solutions using
Microsoft and other leading platforms. This position will work closely with
development teams, business, architecture, project management, business
analysts, and QA areas. The scope of the ETL Lead role involves all aspects
of the project life cycle from inception to implementation and support. The
ETL Lead will drive the development of best practices for NCDOT and mentor
developers, analysts and other members of the team.

Essential Functions:
Drive design and determine the ETL requirements for the project.
Participate in functional design sessions. Ensure ETL design is implemented
correctly by the development team.
Responsible for ETL design, optimization, development, and hand off to
support. Develop reusable ETL components and routines that can be shared
across multiple ETL processes. Perform an active role in shaping and
enhancing overall ETL architecture, including ETL standards, patterns and
best practices. Work with the team to ensure standards and patterns are
followed.
Act as recognized subject matter expert (SME) across regional or functional
programs/applications/systems and as single point of contact for ETL.
Partner with the enterprise architecture team to implement the enterprise
patterns. Work closely with the data architect to ensure the ETL
architecture fits within the overall data strategy and architecture.
Mentor ETL developers and transfer ETL design and development knowledge.
Support developers by providing technical assistance, troubleshooting and
alternative development solutions.
Determine organizational strategies for data integrity validation
processes. Recommend policies and best practices for optimizing ETL data
throughput/accessibility. Recommend a plan to expand ETL strategy and best
practices from a project level to the enterprise level.
Remain current on new ETL techniques and methodologies and communicate
trends and opportunities to management and other developers as needed.
Communicates risks & ensure understanding of these risks.

Data integration and ETL experience with SQL Server Integration Services
(SSIS) or other industry leading tools including ability to configure

Experience in designing and developing ETL processes including naming
conventions, connection to variety of systems and processing large data
volume Required 5 Years
Experience in identifying and mapping data elements across multiple systems
including creating templates and best practices to maintain the mapping

Strong understanding of data integration, quality and validation Required

Understanding of MDM, Data warehouse / Data mart Required
Experience moving data across different types of databases Required
Strong understanding of various data modeling techniques including party
model, star and snowflakes schemas Required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact
with multiple IT teams and business partners Required
Knowledge of physical database administration with SQL Server a plus
