We’re looking for a Jr to Mid level 3-5 years SQL Server DBA who has
general database administration skills, especially SQL Server migration and
upgrade experience.

The SQL Production DBA is responsible for the integrity, security and
performance of  production database systems. This position is mainly
responsible for production database backup monitoring, failure fixing,
developing and enhancing backup and DR strategies and procedures. The
position is also accountable for all operational database administration
functions, like installing, configuring, maintaining, performance tuning,
security configurations, and creating the on-going operational
documentation to support the PLS database platform. This position may also
work with other department or IT teams to review and implement changes for
project deployments.



*Responsibilities:*

   - Monitor database backups and fix any failure to ensure we can meet the
   business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
   - Ensure all production database are backed up in a way that meets the
   business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).

*·Design and develop database backup and disaster recovery strategies and
procedures.*

   - Identify and troubleshoot reoccurring database backup issues,
   configuration issues, and trends, remediation and preventing these issues
   from reoccurring in the future.
   - Install, configure, migrate and upgrade SQL Servers.
   - Supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of database
   management systems.
   - Enforce and suggest standards for PLS production database
   administration.
   - Evaluate and recommend new database and HA technologies.
   - Develop procedures and processes to monitor database availability,
   performance, and usage, etc..
   - Secures data in database to improve information privacy, data
   protection, and compliance with regulations.
   - Design, develop, deploy and maintain database security and audit
   solutions
   - Provide the monitoring, administrating, implementing, performance
   troubleshooting and optimization on database systems.
   - Monitor and maintain capacity for data, index, log and backup files.
   - Perform database and software life-cycle activities to ensure highest
   level of system performance and availability.
   - Develop and change database tables and indexes, redesigning database
   structure and reloading data into a database.
   - Provide database problem evaluation and resolution as well as related
   concerns or issues.
   - Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including
   after-hours and weekends
   - Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
   - Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors.
   - Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
   - Tune database queries for optimal performance.
   - Recommend table index and stored procedure changes based on usage
   patterns.
   - Document the company’s database environment.
   - Implement and document database administration best practices.
   - Develop database scripts, process or utilities and automate
   administration and reporting.
   - Evaluate and test database administration support tools, perform
   capacity planning.
   - Maintain SQL Server instances at current patch levels or migration to
   new releases as appropriate.
   - Perform capacity planning including allocation of system storage and
   planning future storage requirements.
   - Collaborate with other Infra and Development teams to ensure proper
   integration with each system.
   - Provide after hours on-call support on a rotation base.

*Skills/Requirements/Competencies:*

   - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
   - 3-5 years’ experience with Database Administration of Microsoft SQL
   Server 2008/2012/2014.
   - Experience with database backups, restores and recovery models.
   - Experience with installation, configuration and upgrades of SQL Server.
   - Experience with SQL Server migration and upgrade.
   - Ability and skills to diagnose and troubleshoot to resolve database
   issues.
   - Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to users, peers,
   and management.
   - Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native
   monitoring and troubleshooting tools including Profiler and Performance
   Monitor.
   - Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory,
   I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
   - Scripting skills in writing T-SQL involving tuning queries for
   performance and creating and maintaining stored procedures, triggers, views
   and functions.
   - Must possess technical documentation skills.


   - Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for SQL
   Server including Replication, Mirroring, Log Shipping, AlwaysOn and
   Clustering.
   - Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services, Analysis Services and
   Integration Services.
   - General knowledge of web applications, Microsoft Windows platform, and
   server administration
   - Skill in multitasking to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
   - Skill in understanding user requests to determine actual business
   needs and appropriate database solutions.
