An ideal candidate would be someone who built APIs and have a good understanding of a monitoring platform. Since most platforms are built off Nagios they need to have direct OP5 experience. *Experiences with OP5 * *Experience with Shell, and/or Perl Scripting* *Experience building APIs and has a good understanding of monitoring platforms* Technology & Product - Lead Monitoring Engineer *Principal Responsibilities* Architecture, implementation and administration and operation of monitoring infrastructure for Comcast's next generation video delivery offering. Work with Agile application engineering and operations teams to design and implement monitoring for consumption by a 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC) Work with NOC leadership to tune alarms and response procedures Leverage open source tools and best practices where required to implement world-class systems, infrastructure and application monitoring. Oversee the offshore team of monitoring engineers in the day-to-day systems monitoring lifecycle. *Required Skills* Experience with the Op5 monitoring engine (experience with Nagios commercial package a plus) Experience with Op5 extensions and the Op5 open source community Intermediate to advanced Perl and Bash skillset for extending core Nagios functionality and implementing plugins Experience monitoring large-scale application deployments (tens of thousands of application nodes across tens of data centers.)
