Position: AS400/iSeries System Administrator* Location: Birmingham, AL Duration: 6months+ CTH Essential Job Functions: AS400/iSeries Server Administration Support, Monitor, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems Perform operating system upgrades, performance tuning, systems administration, apply PTFs, and security set up. Manage backup operations and DR/HA software (iTera) on iSeries. Manage Websphere MQ product on iSeries. Design, implement, and manage radio frequency (RF) network infrastructure. Perform RF scanner configuration, trouble shooting and console management. Execute hardware and software installations, peripherals and printers – local and remote. Support, configure and maintain Windows Servers and workstations Support, configure, and maintain Cisco gear – Routers, switches, wireless LAN controllers, and access points. Support, configure, and maintain fire walls, antivirus, content filters, and other similar products. Documentation of technical configurations and procedures. Explore new technology opportunities for business development and to stay on top of the technological advancements. Provide performance management services (Capacity Planning, Performance Analysis/Reporting, and Performance Engineering). Support budget development for operations, iSeries hardware, software, RF equipments. Provide technical and strategic support for other companies of MEG Minimum Requirements (education, experience, skills, licenses and/or certifications): Bachelors degree in Information Technology or equivalent IT experience. Total 5+ years experience of AS400 / iSeries systems and networking administration Experience in logistics and/or warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Experience in SST, sub systems and controller management. Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, controllers, VPN, firewall, IDS (Intrusion detection systems), WAN (Wide Area Network) Support, LAN (Local Area Network).. Knowledge in RPG, CL, DB2, and SQL on AS/400 is added advantage. Experience in socket communication. Ability to work in a highly interactive environment. Excellent analytical and communication skills. Strong organizational, teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to learn and apply new technologies.
