*Position: Network Engineer*

*Location: Phoenix, AZ*

*Duration: 6 months - Contract-to-Hire!!!!*



*JOB DESCRIPTION:*

The candidates must have strong Cisco switch/router networking experience
(designing and implementing) and must be prepared to answer some very
complex networking questions during the interview. Looking for
Design/Implementation Engineers, not Admin/Operation level individuals.



The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting IT verticals and
business units in implementing new applications and making network
modifications as part of assigned projects and daily support of the
Network. Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of the
airline's intelligent switch and router-based local and wide area network
infrastructure, as well as managing network projects, preparing and
defending network funding proposals, acquiring appropriate network
management tools, and helping to develop network architecture strategies.



*PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*

-          Design and implement local and wide area data network systems to
facilitate cost-efficient, secure, and reliable communications throughout
the company and with outside service providers

-          Write/engineer network device configuration scripts with
associated change documentation to meet project goals and deadlines, in
compliance with best-practice change management guidelines.

-          Author and maintain network documentation for standards,
processes, security, topology, and inventory, to ensure high-quality
service and support on an ongoing basis.

-          Participate in peer review sessions, with a commitment to the
accuracy and success of the work of the entire team.

-          Plan and lead broad-scope network projects, ensuring their
timely and successful completion.

-          Prepare, submit, and defend budgetary and business case analyses
leading to funding and implementation of enhancements to Client network
systems.

-          Serve as a technical resource providing guidance and advice to
associates on data, voice and mobile network capabilities for utilizing the
full capability of technology in designing effective solutions.

-          Participate in on-call support escalation rotation, and provide
second-tier support for the company's intelligent data network, to maximize
network availability

-          Develop and present business case and related ROI to senior
management for justification of investment in upgrades or replacement of
hardware/software



*QUALIFICATIONS:*

-          8+ years of enterprise corporate data network/IT industry
experience with a minimum of 4 working with data network technologies at a
large enterprise scale (+500 managed devices)

-          B.S. Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical
Engineering or equivalent experience

-          Cisco certification (CCNP, CCIE preferred)

-          Extensive knowledge of EIGRP/OSPF (distribute lists, route-maps,
metric manipulation, tagging)

-          Extensive knowledge of BGP (load-balancing, route filtering,
community lists)

-          Knowledge of implementing NAT/PAT on Routers or Firewalls

-          Cisco Nexus experience deploying and implementing 9K/7K/5K/2K/1K

-          Experience with load balance applications and appliances

-          Expert knowledge on Cisco, QOS, PBR, WCCP, VPN, NAT, VoIP,
IPSec, Multicast, DNS services, MPLS networks, Cisco firewalls, network
protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP, SNMP, VLAN Trunking), and routing protocols
(BGP, EIGRP, GRE, OSPF).

-          Experience using network management tools, such as CA SPECTRUM
and eHealth, and/or HP OpenView, Riverbed Opnet, Siem Qradar, Solarwinds,
Infoblox, Gigamon

-          Demonstrated expertise with protocol analyzers, and test
equipment is desired.

-          Excellent communications, interpersonal, and problem-solving
skills with a track record as a problem solver & an effective team player
is essential

-          Act as the liaison between IT verticals, vendors, the business,
and the network team

-          Consult with technical peers and management on the deployment of
applications within the network

-          Work with the IT verticals to ensure on-going standards and
application performance over the network

-          Be the escalation point for resolution of network integration
issues

-          Proactively recommend courses of action to maintain cost
effectiveness and competitiveness

-          Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

-          Excellent oral and written communication skills

-          Lead both technical and non-technical discussions

-          Proven ability to build and facilitate relationships at all
levels of the organization, both internally and externally

-          Commitment to system functionality and user satisfaction in
rapidly growing and changing environments

-          Capable of efficiently completing tasks without specific
direction or close supervision

-          Have attention to detail and an ability to organize and
prioritize workload

-          Solid problem management skills related to working
network-related issues
