*Description*

*JOB SUMMARY: *

Client is seeking an IP Network Engineer III to support our Access and
Transport technologies.  In your role, you will be developing and executing
test and certification documents in our Denver lab environment.  In this
exciting and challenging role, you will be tasked with developing technical
documents, leadership, guidance and Engineering representation to
cross-functional business teams as well as work with vendors on innovative
technology solutions that best fit our customer needs.



*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION*
With minimal supervision, performs substantially varied and complex tasks,
develop and execute procedures, test plans, and equipment configurations.

Reviews architectural design requirements and develop test cases and test
plans.

Installs and configures networking equipment in a lab environment that
simulates real-world networks and topologies.

Perform testing of Charter network equipment and services, such as routers,
switches, and access technologies using a complex suite of performance
analysis and test tools.

Reviews Architectural design requirements and develops test cases and test
plans.

Reports issues found and performs related trouble-shooting, data gathering,
and working with strategic partners to identify and resolve.

Potentially writing test scripts for and gathering data related to test
automation.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and
goals

Leads the development of challenging projects and executes them through
project lifecycle.

Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures,
topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and
protocols into complete network configurations

Represents Network Engineering’s Access and Transport team in a
professional manner
Evaluates new products and technologies for deployment in Charter’s network

Performs network problem resolution
Works on projects/ systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding
network planning, configuration and optimization
Provides escalated tier support across organizations and to third party
vendors
Coaches less experienced staff

Perform other duties as requested by supervisor



*Minimum Skills and Knowledge Requirements*

Experience with testing and Q/A of Layer 1 thru 7 networks

Experience writing test cases and test plans

Familiarity with MEF Carrier Ethernet technologies

Hands-on networking experience (TCP/IP, fiber optics, routers, switches,
etc.)

Test experience specific to Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, and Juniper
routers/switches.

Experience with network test equipment, such as Ixia, Spirent, EXFO.

Testing and/or familiarity with Cell-Backhaul and Enterprise services

Experience in testing customer premises equipment

Experience with desktop operating systems and applications (Windows, MAC,
Unix/Linux)

Strong work ethic with a desire to meet and exceed personal and business
goals

Expert level communication, documentation, teamwork skills

Self-motivated to take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables

Experienced technical writing skills sufficient to produce white papers,
test cases, test plans, design documents, and technical diagrams

Experience with routing policy and auto-failover techniques

Ability to work both in a team and independently on assigned projects

Strong documentation, follow-up, communication skills

Experience with Alcatel-Lucent platforms including but not limited to
7750,7210,7705,etc.

Learns and adapts to new technologies and methodologies.  Must be able to
think outside-the-box and exercise innovation.

Ability to work with little supervision to execute highly technical and
complex tasks

Organized with a strong attention to detail

Possesses strong analytical skills

Knowledge of company products and services

Ability to adhere to Charter best practices and procedures

Know, understand and follow company policy

L2/L3 MPLS; BGP; IS-IS; VPLS; ELAN; L2VPN; L3VPN; DSCP; CoS; PBB; DOCSIS



*Operating Systems:*

Windows, MAC, Unix/Linux

Strong proficiency with MS office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,
Visio)

Experience in programming



*Education*

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related
field or equivalent work experience
Professional level certification or equivalent work experience



*Related Work Experience        *

5+ years of professional experience in an MSO/ISP Networking Engineering
capacity



*Certifications*

CCNP; CCIE; JNCIP, JNCIE, NRS, MEF2.0



*WORKING CONDITIONS*
Office Environment
Network Lab environment

Exposure to continuous moderate noise

Work performed near power lines and electricity
Occasional travel as required
