*Title: *AIX System Administrator Location: Downey, CA Duration: 12 Months BACKGROUND ISD's Midrange Computing Division (MCD), Open Systems Section (OSS), located in Downey California, provides support for the UNIX computing platforms, including operating system software, system utilities, and tools. OSS supports approximately 200+ UNIX servers, in a mixed environment of HP-UX and AIX. OSS needs an AIX System Administrator Consultant to upgrade and migrate DPSS' Oracle Hosted environments to the new virtualized/consolidated Power7 platform. DESCRIPTION OF WORK/DUTIES Consultant shall perform all of the duties listed below: 1.Upgrade and migrate the DPSS production, non-production, and disaster recovery Oracle UNIX environments from standard LPARs to the VIO client LPARs. 2.Plan and coordinate the client LPARs for Live Partition Mobility (LPM) functionality and participate in setting up disaster recovery. 3.Consult with the OSS AIX system architect to: Configure appropriate VIO servers for resource sharing in the consolidated environment. Prioritize the CPU/memory utilization using historical trend data. Plan and implement file system and work with Oracle DBAs for optimal performance Document the OSS AIX security standards and best practices. 4.Provide AIX technical consulting services to the MCD and DPSS project teams. 5. Document all technical work. Update existing documentation as appropriate, and provide knowledge transfer to OSS staff as appropriate. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The Consultant must meet all of the following minimum qualifications: 1.Three (3) years' experience within the last four (4) years as a system administrator installing, configuring and updating AIX 5.x/6.x/7.x on IBM pSeries hardware. 2.Two (2) years' experience within the last three (3) years as a UNIX system administrator managing servers in an enterprise environment consisting of 50 or more servers. 3.Two (2) years' experience within the last three (3) years implementing and administering PowerVM virtualization technologies (Virtual I/O) on IBM System pSeries platform. 4.One (1) year experience within the last three (3) years in the area of UNIX security: working and hardening UNIX operating systems in an enterprise environment consisting of 50 or more servers. This includes creating and managing secure system and user-defined accounts, using products such as PowerBroker. 5.Two (2) years' experience within the last three (3) years maintaining UNIX and/or Perl scripts used for the automation of system monitoring and maintenance procedures. 6.Two (2) years' experience within the last three (3) years configuring file systems on EMC storage on AIX systems using Logical Volume Manager (LVM).
