Duties & Responsibilites :

-This position is for a System Administrator for our Train Control infrastructure.
-The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, problem solver, and should have experience leading server design, operating systems deployment, server management, server clustering, storage (SAN/NAS) management, Windows scripting, and active directory in a highly available mission critical environment.
-The candidate should possess the ability to work closely with Operations department and scheduled personnel. Must be willing to effectively work in a team environment.

- Design, configure, deploy and optimize operating systems, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Thorough understanding of building, designing and deploying operating systems, software and configuration tasks to end-user workstations and servers through the use of automation deployment tools.
- Design, document, implement and optimize solutions to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Design, implement and manage Active Directory environments focusing on cross-domain functionality, GPO driven policies, and user/group management.
- Implement and maintain a configuration management system to assure compliance and adherence to best practices, security policies and disaster recovery requirements for all systems.
- Research, test and deploy application, operating system and hardware patches/updates.
- Coordinate updates, outages, maintenance windows, and other potential service impacting activities that could disrupt the availability of safety critical systems.
- Design, implement, allocate, and optimize SAN/NAS based storage across multiple vendor solutions to virtual and physical infrastructures.
- Maintain and expand the existing backup strategy and infrastructure for operational efficiency, including data staging, recovery and hardware migration.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and programs that increase system reliability/availability and strengthen disaster recovery policies and procedures.
- Experience with working with and configuring services such as SMTP, DNS, IIS, FTP, CIFS and NFS.
- Lead root cause analysis and provide 2nd/3rd level support for all system hardware, software, operating systems and safety critical applications.
- Work with infrastructure teams, application teams, and service providers to ensure solid designs and solutions to maintain secure and highly available systems.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic 7x24 environment while effectively prioritizing tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

- A Bachelor’s Degree in a Technology related discipline and/or at least 4-5 years of related experience in Information Technology for critical Enterprise infrastructures.
- Strong leadership communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization in a professional, diplomatic and tactful manner.
- 5 – 7 years of experience in developing and implementing large scale, complex, highly available Infrastructure architecture supporting critical business applications.
- 3 years of experience with VMware vSphere (ESX) and vCenter.
- 3 years of experience with SAN and NAS Storage.
- 3 years of experience with Monitoring Tools.
- 3 Years of experience administering Windows Server and/or Red Hat Linux.
- Availability for 24X7 on call support.

Desired Skills:
-A thorough understanding of and experience with computer based systems and associated networking architectures.
-The ideal candidate will have: experience working with large complex projects; experience with Windows and Linux based computer systems, Microsoft clusters, Windows scripting, Active Directory, database administration, Storage Area Networks (SAN), computer imaging and hardware / software troubleshooting, antivirus protection.
-Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and have the ability to think and work independently with minimal supervision.
-The candidate should possess a demonstrated ability to work closely with NOC and field personnel.
- Must be willing to work irregular shifts and provide on call coverage in a 24/7 environment
