This includes hands on experience managing multiple LANs over WAN serving a minimum of 1,000 users using PCs and other Ethernet devices. At least 1 year of WAN experience including the use of site to site VPN via the Internet. Emphasis on Cisco and NetScreen network components a plus. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate this knowledge in a working environment during an interview. · In depth knowledge of IP, Network Management platforms bridging/switching and routing necessary for supporting the production environment. · Working knowledge with at least one of the following protocol analyzers. Sniffer, Wild Packets, SolarWinds and/or other brand name protocol analyzers. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate this knowledge in a working environment during an interview. · Working knowledge & experience with f5 Big IP Load Balancers a plus · Working knowledge of Firewall software such as Checkpoint, NetScreen, or Cisco PIX · Microsoft Windows experience from a networking/protocol perspective is required to assist in minimizing risk in implementation changes. · Working knowledge of network management platforms such as ORION, Client Openview, Spectrum, or equivalent. · Working knowledge of MS-Visio. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate this knowledge by showing and explaining maps that they created for previous work or projects. · Proficient oral and written communication skills are required to effectively communicate with operations and other technical groups for training, troubleshooting and problem resolution closure, as well as keeping network documentation current. Additionally, the candidate should be able to communicate to end users and effectively convey recommendations that end users can understand and implement. SPECIFIC SKILL SETS DESIRED, BUT NOT NECESSARILY REQUIRED: Advanced abilities in Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Script/command programming Unix command line experience WHAT EXACTLY WILL THIS INDIVIDUAL BE WORKING ON? 1. Primary responsibility will be to support the International/Domestic LANs and WANs as the primary or secondary point of escalation for any and all problems that may relate to data Networking Additionally this resource may occasionally be called upon to implement LAN/WAN projects. 2. Perform support of LAN/WAN connected hardware components such as switches, routers, Load Balancers and Firewalls. This involves flash upgrades, timely resolution of failed components and configurations which cause unavailability of our core business systems and communications. 3. Provide support for network related production outages for the LAN/WAN, including fallback recovery procedures and circuit troubleshooting as necessary. 4. Responsible for root cause analysis of problems & production slow downs, and will use network tools like protocol analyzers & network management software to help make these determinations & recommend short & long term resolutions.
