A complete understanding of the software development lifecycle and the role of QA are required for this position. Key results areas and accountabilities The role is accountable for the following activities: • Experience working in an agile environment with great knowledge of QA processes and SDLC • Experience Linux/windows based applications • solid documentation ability • Solid experience with SQL • Design, document, and implement white box and black box test plans, test approaches and test cases using information from product documents, knowledge of business processes and discussions with developers. • Design and develop manual function, regression and performance test cases as a basis for creation of automated tests. • Create and maintain test cases as per the new/updated requirements • Test Execution as per the QA process • Experience in Defect Management Process • Provide status reports and metrics on test case creation and execution and defects. • Proactive and promote best practices, standards and processes for Manual and automation testing. • Assist QA Lead in defining and implementing test environment set up. Functional skills, qualifications and experience • Bachelor's degree in Engineering • 5 years testing experience in writing, executing, and maintaining manual test or automated tests. • Expertise in developing test plans for large multi-tier systems • Good experience with Test Management Tools( Version One ALM or TFS) • Expert with Integration testing (XML message based systems such as MQ Series, Active MQ, TIBCO EMS) • An understanding or experience testing software for Electric Utility Distribution Systems a plus • Experience/familiarity with AIX, Java, and .NET, SQLPlus, Oracle databases is a Plus • Working Knowledge of automation tools (e.g. Test NG, Eclipse,Log4J, Maven.) is a Plus • Experience in an agile development environment. • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills. • Flexible work style; comfortable with adapting to various work assignments.
