*Title: Sr. Automation/BAS Engineer*

*Location: Frederick, MD *

*Duration: Long Term*



This position is responsible for technical responsibility of Building
Automation Systems (BAS), Process Automation Systems (PAS), Instrumentation
for all GMP systems with Novartis Diagnostics Emeryville operations. This
position has the overall responsibility for operation, modifications,
maintenance support and Quality Systems activities for these systems.



*Major Accountabilities:*

·         Ensure all company and Site BAS and  PAS policies and procedures
are adhered to.

·         Ensure all work carried out and equipment installed is safe,
effective and in compliance with the appropriate industry standards..

·         Lead the modification and system improvement activities for BAS
and PAS systems

·         Undertake responsibility for Deviations. CAPAs, Change Controls
for BAS and PAS systems

·         Ensure robust spare parts inventory for smooth operation of BAS
and PAS systems

·         Support commissioning and validation of modified and new systems

·         Ensure procedure and policies are up-to-date and periodic review
are performed in a timely fashion

·         Assist in audits

·         Act as a technical lead and SME for BAS and PAS.



*Key Performance Indicators:*

·         Other key indicators include teamwork, organization, leadership,
schedule development, facilitation, collaboration, and completion and
follow-up.

·         Strong leadership, organizational planning, and project
management skills

·         Technical expertise in biotech unit operations, ability to handle
multiple projects at one time

·         Excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills
(written and oral).

·         Ability to work with a cross functional team to achieve expected
results

·         Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Project



*Relevant Experience:*

·         Minimum 9 years related industry experience required.

·         7+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical/biotech operations, with
thorough working knowledge production unit operations and automation
principles.

·         Direct experience with regulated environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA,
EPA) required.

·         Design experience or owners experience in manufacturing processes
required.

·         Design experience or owners experience in utility systems
including purified water, WFI, CIP, SIP, compressed air and waste treatment
desired.

·         Working knowledge of processes in fermentation, purification
and/or formulation desired.





(Position may require travel up to 20% to equipment vendors during the
design and construction of any new investments. Some travel to other AZ
sites may also be required)
