*Job Title: DB2 UDB DBA Consultant* *Primary Skill: DB2 UDB DBA* *Duration: 6 Months* *# of Positions: 1* *Position Type: Contract* *Location: Cincinnati, OH* *Offshore/Onsite: Onsite* *Job Description* - Performs day-to-day database administration with an emphasis on producing and evaluating performance monitoring reports to maintain peak performance. - Identifying and resolving complex Systems Management-related problems and implementing corresponding solutions. - Apply shell scripting knowledge for database monitoring and automation of routine tasks, and update of existing scripts. - Perform data management tasks to include loading, editing, restoring and removing data at the requests of our clients. - Supports application developers in logical/physical database design, performance improvement, problem resolution, and use of DB2 and third-party DB2 utilities; reviews and approves application changes; implements all database definition changes - Supports production control and computer operations staffs in meeting production schedule requirements, managing computer resource usage by DB2 applications, and resolving DB2 problems, including after-hours on-call support. - Monitors and tunes DB2 subsystems environments for performance and availability. - Provides technical support to LAN group on DB2 Connect issues and upgrades - Participates in disaster recovery planning and testing - Research, plan, coordinate and test DB2 zOS patches and upgrades - Tune SQL code and assist developers with the writing and tuning of SQL queries - Perform DB2 installations and upgrades without guidance *Experience / Skills / Abilities Required* - 5-7 years of experience as a DB2 z/OS Database Administrator. - Proficient with DB2 z/OS V9.1 and upAdvanced knowledge and proficiency with tuning DB2 z/OS. - Proficient in DB2 z/OS patching, RSU Maintenance, migration and disaster planning & recovery - Working knowledge of database administration tools like BMC’s Main view, IBM DB Admin tool Apptune and File-Aid for DB2/RDX. - Solid knowledge of JCL, z/OS, CICS, DB2 replication, SMPE, Zeke, Zebb, Zara or equivalent. - Advanced knowledge of database structure and database engine internals. - Expertise of Datacom, IDEAL, COBOL, and AIX, DB2 UDB would be a plus. - Knowledge of REXX language. - Serves as RDBMS process leader and subject matter expert. - Experience with other RDBMS systems a plus.
