Title Project Manager (Industrial Construction) ($1 - $100 MM) Type Contract (12 months) Location Ecorse, MI *Job Description:* The Project Manager will manage multiple capital projects from beginning to end (concept, scope, cost, resources, funding, execution, etc.). This role will be responsible for project management, lead client interaction, manage all resources (engineering, equipment and construction vendors) needed to define, procure, construct and start-up projects. The successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, organization and guidance to ensure that project quality management, design and technical services are provided and that performance targets are met. *KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:* • Serve as project manager at In Ecorse, MI facility with complete responsibilities for project safety, design reviews, construction management, equipment quality, budget and schedule • Responsible for project development (Front End Loading) including cost benefit evaluations, alternative analysis', project estimates, funding requests, scope development and execution planning using a gated project delivery system • Execute project utilizing cross functional teams consisting of contractors and internal stakeholders as required by project objectives and execution strategy • Develop and implement contracting strategies including specification writing, vendor qualifications, bid evaluations, expediting, factory testing, and payment management. • Perform construction and commissioning management including coordination with plant operations, construction progress management and cost control, and leading commissioning and start-up planning team efforts. • Provide strong leadership, communication, and decision making skills to make critical project decisions. • Responsible to ensure all program targets (cost/schedule/performance/inventory build/etc.) are satisfied as defined within the scope document. • Responsible to coordinate cross-functional team communications between all involved business units (Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Legal, Sales). • Provide technical engineering services regarding equipment, processes, design disciplines, and industry design standards to the plants on request. Provides oversight for the activities of the large capital projects *Specific Experience Required:* Experience in project management of multi-disciplined, small project portfolios to large industrial construction projects ($1 - $100 MM) 10+ years of experience managing projects including design, construction, project controls and management of multi-discipline engineering resources Experience with construction safety management and demonstrated safety leadership Knowledge of basic project control techniques including critical path scheduling, resource loading, and cost control including earned value Knowledge and proficient of Construction industry Institute (CII) and Project Management Institute (PMI) concepts a plus *Personal Skills Required:* Well-developed communication, leadership, problem solving and analytical, and negotiation skills Experience in project implementation following an established project delivery system High ethical standards Experience in leading cross functional teams including management, hourly personnel and contractors. Effectively manage project scope by minimizing change and ensuring any changes which do occur are properly documented and approved Ability to resolve issues and solve problems throughout a project lifecycle *Technical Skills Required:* Knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies Broad knowledge through significant work experience of industry design standards, basic construction techniques, and equipment specifications Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Travel Some travel may be required to coordinate with engineering and equipment suppliers. Will be on an as needed basis, but expected to be minimal. On Call Project Manager would be expect to be available be reached via phone for urgent requests outside normal business hours. During construction and commissioning, the project manager would be on call for emergency situations Safety Standard PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Hearing protection, gloves, metatarsal shoes, Fire Retardant clothing (pants and jacket) required in some work areas.
