Position: Senior BI Designer Location: Denver, CO Duration: Long Terms *PRIMARY SKILL:* *The candidate should have very strong EDW designers, with experience with handling data from Hadoop and federating data between traditional data sources like Teradata, Oracle and HDFS/Horton Works etc. The detailed JD is give below.* *BI Designer JD: * A *Business Intelligence Solutions Modeler/Designer* works under limited supervision to analyze and design analytical data integration solutions that include both structured and unstructured data, to develop and manage metadata from analytical data stores and data access tools, and to monitor and manage data quality. The ideal candidate will have the ability to promote the value and potential of BI across the Enterprise, understand how information is used to drive strategic and tactical decisions for the Business, and understand and anticipate the information needs of the Business. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:* · Assist in interviewing business users to obtain information requirements · Perform analysis on data sources to verify expected data content, relationships and quality · Design and communicate conceptual and logical data models · Develop and communicate high-level technical designs (designs that including testing strategies and data quality controls) in order to resolve complex technical and business issues · Evolve Business Intelligence solutions and data models to meet new and changing business requirements · Develop processes for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data warehousing components (from databases and big data repositories to data access tool catalogs) · Proactively monitor data quality; provide direction and guidance in improving the data load process · Support and advise business users on data conflicts or inappropriate data usage · Participate in the definition of best practices, standards and procedures for the Enterprise Analytical Data environment including the Extract/Load/Transform (ETL) processes · Adhere to and set data management, security, development policies, procedures and standards · Be proactive, motivated and flexible · Possess analytical skills and have the ability to support and manage multiple priorities · Cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI Information Management environment in conjunction with Business stakeholders and BI team · May mentor the activities of others for BI activities or projects. *Qualifications:* Along with their outstanding drive for accomplishment, the successful candidate will bring with them: · BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent Business degree / work experience · Minimum 7 years of experience in Business Intelligence area (specifically with structured and unstructured data analysis; solution design; metadata management) · Strong analytical, conceptual and technical skills; facile ability to translate business needs into technical solutions · Capable of developing a deep understanding of source *data: ;*; its strengths, weaknesses and semantics. · Extensive experience with various data modeling paradigms for both structured and unstructured data · Extensive experience with various data querying languages (such as SQL and HiveQL) · Minimum 5 years of experience with Vertica/Teradata databases / tools · Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica is a plus · Experience with Hadoop environment is a plus (including Hive, Impala, Sqoop, Spark, etc.) · Experience with scripting tools is a plus (including unix shell, Python, Ruby, PHP, etc.) · Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (including OLAP / Metadata Management / Reporting tools) · Extensive client facing skills with the ability to lead customer / business user meetings (as appropriate) · Excellent communication skills both written and oral · Strong partnering and teamwork skills; · Flexibility, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills · Strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to effectively with people at all levels of the enterprise from executives to developers (across the organizational spectrum from Business to Engineering including Information Technology) · Self-motivated and highly adaptable; ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment *NOTE: * P.l make sure the candidate is having *RELEVANT 5 years of experience in BI Designing, mainly on Solution Designing, not **just reporting**or ETL coding. Also the candidate should review the business requirements, needs to be able to do analysis, look into current process, into current data to come up with a total solution. BI Designers must look more into how the data is related, and what meaning it has in context. Also, Data Modelers may emphasize data types, definitions, etc*.
