We are looking for an experienced UI developer to provide ISD staff support
to develop and implement enterprise NoSQL (i.e. schema-agnostic) database
applications and modules, and develop information storage and discovery
applications and modules.
The project will be based on gathered requirements using Agile software
development methodologies.
Perform a competitive analysis of comparable digital library interfaces
(e.g., PLOS, JSTOR, DPLA, SCOPUS); collaborate on UI architectural
strategy; create 508-compliant interface designs for traditional web,
tablet, and mobile phone display that promote ease of use and usability;
create mockups, wireframes, and layouts; Test interface designs; use
standard usability methods and procedures for testing; refine interface
design to incorporate findings of usability tests; and implementation of
front-end coding including technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery,
AngularJS, bootstrap, Foundation, CSS
Technical Skills Required
- HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, bootstrap, Foundation, CSS, Git, SCRUM
- Experience designing, conducting, and analyzing usability tests
- Experience with task analysis for information discovery across varied
user groups (e.g., scientists, policy makers, consumers)
- Experience with prototype testing
- Experience with analysis of interface architecture, including
consistency between task flows, mismatches between task flow and screen
flow, and menu structure
- Experience with analysis of screen flow efficiency, including
navigation bottlenecks
- Advanced knowledge of HTML5, XHTML, and CSS standards with practical
experience
- Experience developing in Linux/UNIX
- Experience with source control and build technology (e.g. Git)
- Familiarity with agile development
- Ability to analyze the existing system and accurately estimate the
level of effort required for new features, workflow changes, and bug fixes.
- Highly organized, motivated creative individual who finds joy in
clean code.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred:
- Advanced knowledge of modern web frameworks (e.g. AngularJS, Ember.js)
- Experience with JSF
- Experience with Ruby on Rails
