*Position Summary:*
· System architects with strong communication skills who will meet
with business owners to understand and document their requirements.
· From the requirements, the system architects will design the
infrastructure and will create a business facing document including Visio
diagrams, a write up and a financial spreadsheet outlining the costs
associated with acceptance of a project.
· If the business unit accepts the project, the systems architect
will not actually be involved in the build but will have some level of
involvement if changes are made during the infrastructure build.
· Application requirements can include Data Center (i.e. Storage
Requirements – EMC/NetApp, IOP’s – through put in and out of systems,
Memory requirements, VMware/capacity, etc.).
· This client’s team has a template/building blocks for design, and
most of the application requirements are 80% the same and will be built
using existing templates. The requirements will plug into a template for
virtualization, as part of the infrastructure design process. 20% of the
infrastructure build will be designed by the systems architect.
· The system architect needs to understand the following business
requirements to complete the document:
· Unit growth (i.e. if an app has 900 users across x sites and will
grow by y)
· Taking the requirements and convert them to infrastructure.
· The customer’s architecture team will provide well defined tools
for storage capacity and compute. 70% of this job is digging into the
app/business owners to get the requirements and understand the applications
*Key Areas of Responsibility**:*
· Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify, prioritize and validate
project requirements and business objectives.
· Derive a detailed understanding of the stated business problem
and objectives.
· Work with the stakeholder and architecture team toward resolution
to achieve the objectives.
· Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to help justify the
investment necessary to deliver a solution.
· Gather and prepare supporting analysis and design documentation
from a business perspective.
· Present the solution and associated costs to the business owners.
· Provide creative thinking and new ideas to resolve existing
problems.
