*System Analyst 3 (AIX System Engineer) *

*Location: Austin, TX 78741*
*WORK DESCRIPTION:*
The selected System Engineer will lead in the building and configuring of a
Power 7-based system in support of implementations in the test and
production environments.
Able to review the performance monitoring of the respective environment,
determine opportunities to refine the configuration of a component and
determine new resource / capacity requirements.
Responsibilities also include working with the application teams, other
support teams and product vendors to engineer solutions that are scalable,
supportable and maintainable.
The engineering of solutions also includes working with the technical
disciplines to determine the appropriate infrastructure requirements to
meet the business objective.
The individual must have experience in supporting a 7x24 environment and
being compliant within the guidelines and controls. The individual must be
experienced in performing problem diagnostics to determine the root cause
of an issue.
*WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS*
*Minimum: (Required)*
8 years of experience in administration and configuration of CPU, memory,
operating system, storage and network resources for IBM AIX environments on
Power 5/6/7 Series platforms.
8 years of experience in installation and deployment of complex application
solutions on AIX platforms leveraging virtual capabilities (LPAR, VIO) for
compute and disk storage components
3 years of experience with deployments and installation of Oracle databases
on AIX platforms.
3 years of experience on projects with demonstrated capability to
interact and collaborate effectively with end users.
8 years of experience translating business and technical requirements into
system configurations
8 years of experience preparing technical as-built documentation describing
systems configurations and steps required to reconstruct delivered
environments.
*Preferred:*
4 years of experience with SUSE Linux administration
4 years of experience with WebSphere Application Server
Other Special Requirements (Optional): Ability to lift 50lbs.
