Here is a transcript of a typical attempt at trying to check-in my web page
files. One thing I find strange it therdoes not appear to be much trafic
going out my home network (based on DSL modem lights ;-)

I just thought of something. My development machine is Debian stable, and I
am probably using the OpenSSH package.
Should I be using the SSH2 package ? I know savannah uses protocol 2 for ssh
sessions.

I made sure the CVS_RSH=ssh like you suggested, it did not work.
I checkout a new copy of my webcvs tree to my local box, and added a file.
It seemed to work OK. But it again timed out when I tried to commit.

If SSH connection fails with public key, it will usually ask you for
password.
Your SSH key looks good.
I also added some firewall configuration to get an immediate error message
when CVS_RSH is not set.
