I am well aware that the flour dust will burn as it is dispersed into a flame. When I am performing a demonstration like my fire breathing pumpkin, its exactly what I am counting on. When explaining it I tell students that, "a fine powder dispersed in a flame has the potential to burn." I never tell them that "flour will burn when thrown through a flame." If anything, I talk about the great lengths midwest farmers go to in order to ground their grain silos in case of lightning strikes. But I agree with you, and I don't tell students about the burning potential of flour.
