Never mind. I was confused by the yum list output. I thought I was looking at
only the epel listing as I thought I had disabled all other repos except epel.

Epel has many more 389-ds rpms as opposed to the main SL repos (specifically,
fastbugs) which only has 3 rpms.
Can someone advise which ones to install? From epel or SL?
Hello,
The Scientific Linux distribution servers will be unavailable for about
2 hours at November 29 2017 14:00 CST (Chicago).
Downloads, yum operations, and mirror syncs will fail against the
following hosts:
* rsync.scientificlinux.org
* ftp.scientificlinux.org
* ftp1.scientificlinux.org
The way I upgraded to 7.4 was as follows.
First make sure that /etc/yum/vars contains the files releasever and
slreleasever. The former should have the major version number, i.e., 7:
# cat /etc/yum/vars/releasever
7
The later may have the latest minor version, e.g.:
# cat /etc/yum/vars/slrel

Hello,
I have yum-conf-7x installed, but I am unable to upgrade to 7.4. I can
provide anything that may be needed to help. I could change all of the
repos to point to 7.4, but I feel like there is a better way to this
than that.
kindest regards,
