When I found out about his son being gay I knew that he was doing that whole
denial thing about gay rights and aids.

A lot of people were happy when he was shot.

One of the things I learned about him was how much he did to undermine gay
rights. A segment of Dateline NBC a few years ago focused on a lesbian
couple in Cali who were lobbying for same-sex marriage rights. In it, one of
them led Stone Phillips to the refrigerator, where they had a bottle of
really expensive bottle of bubbly. They said, straight-faced, tha they were
saving it for the day Reagan died, to toast "good riddance". Still rattles
me, that.

I guess a lot of people in California remember what he did to the state.
Some of the things that were done were purely political power moves that
hurt more than helped. Others were done just because they could.

I was about to blast this article for the ludicrous notion that lasers could
knock anything at distance out of the sky (the power and focusing issues
alone will preclude that for years to come), but the jamming factor does
seem plausible.
